Connections is a TV series from Young Asia Television that harnesses the power of social media and the connectivity that the internet offers to facilitate dialogue between and among Sri Lankans both on the islands and elsewhere in the world, with the objective of contributing to the reconciliation process in post-war Sri Lanka.

Connections will attempt to form a vital bridge between and among these communities, through teleconferences, reports and stories that explore issues of post war development and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.

While there is no simplistic guarantee of a change in the mindsets of those who come into these dialogues what is more important is that they engage and communicate in the manner that acknowledges and grapples with diverse viewpoints, and  become more sensitized to the existence of many truths and multiple realities and perspectives on conflict and peace in Sri Lanka.

Many youth in these countries are tuned out of many civil society voices coming from Sri Lanka and equally tuned out of – and feel alienated by – propaganda of various extreme nationalist fronts operating in their country of birth and citizenship. Connections will help them gain more insight and understanding of the opportunities and complexities of peace and development in Sri Lanka.
